In my artistic journey, I delve into the colorful world of clowns, exploring their whimsical yet haunting essence through digital art. Each brushstroke peels back layers of emotions, inviting viewers to glimpse into human vulnerabilities. My signature art style embraces imperfections, rejecting clean lines in favor of creases and ink splatters, resulting in a sort of digital rust, or rust on paper, regardless of what medium or surface I’m working with.
A central theme is the "jester's privilege" along with the dynamic between tragedy and comedy, liberation and feeling trapped. Clowns use laughter to challenge norms, but beneath their antics lies a commentary on identity and the masks we wear. Additionally, I immerse myself in Southern California's punk-rock scene, capturing its rebellious spirit and D.I.Y. essence through photography and zines. Beyond surface rebellion, I delve into the scene's introspection, grappling with conflicting desires for freedom and belonging – much like clowns juggling laughter and tears. My art reflects these contradictions, inviting viewers to embrace life's complexities and find beauty in imperfection.
Ultimately, my work is a tapestry woven from threads of joy and sorrow, rebellion and conformity. Through the convergence of clown themes and punk rock, I provoke viewers to look into inner struggles and find solace in embracing life's endeavors, paradoxes, and rust.
